英文要約Luck of the clinically relevant technology to detect tumor specific markers, which can provide high speed and sensitive diagnosis for cancer patients, leads to the delay of the appropriate treatment. Recently we have developed the ferrite fluorescent beads (FF beads) technology, which could be highly sensitive to different molecules such epidermal growth factors (EGFR) or c-erbB2 already well known tumor specific markers (e.g. squamous cell cancer or adenocarcinoma). This year, to determine if this new technology can be applied to clinical, we analyzed serum from 20 esophagus cancer patients and 15 breast cancer patients as well as 18 healthy volunteers as controls. The fascinating result from this experiment would be informed from our collaborator. Prior to the study entry, the protocol to collect the blood samples from the patients was approved by the ethics committee of Keio University, school of medicine. Written informed consent was obtained from each patient.
To develop this new system as a practically useful method for clinical and a pharmaceutical~product, we proposed the sets of cancer specific markers specific to squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma based on our clinical experience as a surgical department. The set of squamous cell carcinoma contains three different tumor markers such CEA, SCC, and CA125, that targets variety of cancers such esophagus cancer, uterus cancer, bladder cancer, laryngeal cancer, pharynx cancer and lung cancer as well. The set of adenocarcinoma also contains three tumor markers such CEA, CA19-9 and CA15-3, that targets another variety of cancers such gastric cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer, pancreatic cancer and lung cancer. Using those sets of tumor markers, we will evaluate the significance of the this new system using FF beads technology.
