平成22年度は、情報量の減少に応じて動的に省電力モードに切り替わる、革新的な省エネルギーのネットワーク・ルータの実現に必要な要素技術(1)トラフィック観測・予測・最適性能予測技術、(2)データ流量適応型性能制御技術、(3)電力可視化技術のそれぞれについて試作・評価および結合評価による実用性の検証を行った。
以下、開発項目毎に平成22年度の実施内容と得られた成果について報告する。

In order to achieve an innovative network router that can switch between power modes according to the amount of incoming traffic, we are working on three elemental technologies; the "Traffic monitoring / prediction / performance prediction technology", the "Data rate adaptive performance control technology", and the "Power consumption visualization technology". For these technologies, we conducted integrated tests based on fundamental researches which we performed in FY2009. With feedback from these evaluated results, we demonstrated the effectiveness of the technologies and clarified issues. For "Traffic monitoring / prediction / performance prediction technology", we evaluated accuracy of a predicting algorithm which forecasts traffic variation and decides a suitable router performance with a simulation model by using the real network traffic and demonstrated the effectiveness of the algorithms. We also installed the algorithm into the integrated system and demonstrated the effectiveness of the algorithms. For "Data rate adaptive performance control technology", we developed the router prototype which can adjust its engine performance by using the basic technique of the multi engine router architecture established in FY2009. We evaluated the router prototype in the integrated tests with the real network traffic and confirm that the router prototype reduced power by 14.3% in average. For "Power consumption visualization technology", we installed into the integrated system the real-time measuring and User Interface technology which we developed in FY2009. We evaluated the both technologies and discussed them with consideration for the latest IETF activities to develop a standard framework of the power consumption visualization of the router.
