Durability and reliability test of the SOFC that has been developed by Japanese developer such as MHI, Kyocera,
MMC/KEPCO, TOTO, and Tokyo gas, has been carried out in this project.
CRIEPI has been developing an electrode polarization model which is able to express SOFC performance under various
conditions with high accuracy for five different types of SOFCs.
The obtained data through the longtime operation test up to 10,000hrs were analyzed every 1,000 hours to estimate
the impact factor of voltage losses by using the model. As a result, we showed the voltage decay rate of each part such as voltage drop by internal resistance, voltage drop by anode polarization, and voltage drop by cathode polarization
quantitatively for five different types of SOFC. Moreover, it was clarified to the temperature coefficient in the
performance expression formula is almost constant through the long-term durability examination up to 10,000 hours.
 For the short term endurance test up to 2,000 hours, methane reforming ratio (100%, 54%, 39%) was selected as a
parameter that influenced the output voltage. In this test, the key voltage degradation factor is increasing of internal
resistance in each condition. However, increasing of anode polarization was seen in the case of 39% reforming ratio. One of the reason to be considered is that the reforming reaction and the cell reaction are repeatedly generated on the
surface of the anode, and the anode was damaged.
