For the duration test, tubular type MOC (Membrane On Catalyst) modules were fabricated. The size of MOC modules were 10mm in outside diameter and 100 or 300mm in length. MOC modules succeeded in achieving fundamental durable properties at the previous project. Grain growth of the hydrogen permeation membrane was observed after the long-term hydrogen permeation test with MOC at 550 degree C. However apparent degradation of membrane by the grain growth was not revealed. Long-term reforming test at 550 degree C showed that the causes of leakage of MOC were some pin-holes which were formed by reaction between palladium and metal like particulates on the membrane and the degradation of the joint connecting a support to a metal pipe. For the latter, new type of the connecting part was developed and showed no leakage over 500 hours in the endurance test. Durability of nickel catalyst was studied. It was influenced by the composition ratio of nickel : 8YSZ in the support tube. High ratio of nickel resulted in the grain growth of nickel in hydrogen gas at 600 degree C and the reforming performance deteriorated. Granulation for press-molding of the support tube and the pressing condition were investigated very carefully. We could make the green body of support tube by press-molding at last. On the other side, plating process was modified by introducing the plating apparatus and so on. Defects on the membrane formed in the plating process were succeeded in decrease.
