以下、開発項目毎に平成23年度の実施内容と得られた成果について報告する。

In order to realize an innovative network router that can perform among several power-consumption modes according to the amount of incoming traffic, we are working on three elemental technologies; the "Traffic monitoring / prediction / performance prediction technology", the "Data rate adaptive performance control technology", and the "Power consumption visualization technology". For these, we have made extensive fundamental researches and developed new technologies based on the result of the integrated tests which we performed in FY2010. For "Traffic monitoring / prediction / performance prediction technology", we improved our algorithm by using the number of sessions as predictive information and demonstrated the effectiveness of the algorithms with simulation using traffic measured in the real network. We also improved our algorithm to obtain a closer estimate of router performance. For "Data rate adaptive performance control technology", we developed router components in order to realize the multi engine router which equips over 16 power consumption modes. We developed advanced LSI in which new techniques are applied. One of the revolutionary techniques is to change each portion of LSI into low power status by limiting unnecessary performance and functions according to usage. We also developed a main board which can reduce power consumptions by optimizing its voltage level. Additionally, we expanded our software to control these new components and evaluated it. For "Power consumption visualization technology", we worked on the following items. First we improved a way of obtaining information from routers by filtering threshold-based power consumption changes to reduce amount of database. Second, we contributed to IETF activities to develop standard framework of the power consumption visualization of the router. Finally, we improved User Interface to display power changes every few seconds.
