The master plan for the Kansai Science Park Demonstration of Next-Generation Energy and Social Systems announces that the final goal is to realize the 'Keihanna Eco-city' which can realize large scale CO2 reduction from local community with residence districts, commercial districts and educational districts. Based on the master plan, the purpose of this project is to develop necessary technologies and equipment to minimize energy consumption and CO2 emission in urban area as a whole by introducing a number of HEMS, BEMS those can visualize the effects of energy management for buildings and housings and OBU for EV to manage EV charging. Overview of demonstration and the local EMS in Kansai Science City is that by introducing energy storage system which synchronizes with power grid system and developing local EMS, which can maximize the utilization of distributed power sources such as PV installed in the local area, by improving the efficiency of energy utilization of houses, merchandise stores and buildings and the efficiency is confirmed through the demonstration. And also energy management technology with Demand-Response is studied to optimize the energy consumption schedule within the whole area. This project aims to achieve targeted value of CO2 reduction (by 2020, 50% from residential section, 50% from transportation section, 40% from business section), by introducing large number of next generation of electric vehicles promoted by Kyoto prefecture, Kyotanabe-city, Kizugawa-city and Seika-cho and reuseable energy source such as PV, energy saving equipment such as fuel batteries and heat-pump and shifts to eco-oriented life style. Final goal of this demonstration project is to develop local EMS which can minimize CO2 emission from the local area and construct the next generation social system which can provide solutions for the local people without lacking convenience and quality of life and also realize eco-society as life culture for people in Kansai Science City. In 2010, we developed necessary system of EV charging station, EV management OBU and Battery authentication system to support energy management system. EV charging station provides optimized charging services for EVs. EV management OBU monitors state of charge and sends information to reserve of EV charging. Regarding the EV battery authentication system, to ensure safety operation of EV battery and also to make secure the secondary use of EV batteries, data information security is required to protect secure information from risks. For this purpose, we have developed necessary technologies to provide system platform for battery authentication.
