(1)既往技術の調査
1)輸送対象である炭酸ガスの物性の調査を行った。
炭酸ガスは気体、液体、固体が同時に存在する3重点を有するガスであり、低温での輸送にあたっては十分な検討が必要であることを改めて認識した。
英文要約Preparatory Investigation for Feasibility Study concerning Conceptual Design of Liquefied CO2 Transport Ships. The investigation and the examination of three following items were executed in 2008 fiscal year. The preparation for starting the feasibility study of both ships for experimental use and for commercial use in transporting liquefied CO2 was complete. The design condition is scheduled to be satisfactory in the first half of 2009 fiscal year though it is necessary to examine the design condition further about a commercial ship. 1) Investigation of current technology ・Physical properties of CO2 ・Condition and quantity of CO2, transport distance, technology including structural type and material of storage tanks at surface transport of CO2 ・Structural type and material of cargo tanks, cargo handling system and process flow of LPG and LNG carriers (low temperature type, pressure type and combination type of low temperature and pressure)・Rules and regulations to be applied to liquefied CO2 transport ships・Construction costs of similar ships to liquefied CO2 transport ships 2) Examination of transport pattern. The size, the speed, the number and the transport route of the requested ship were classified and examined after all the transport patterns with the possibility were assumed about the ship used for transporting liquefied CO2 experimentally from the capture site to the storage site. 3) Examination of cargo tank structure The proper arrangement and structural type of cargo tanks were examined by designing condition of temperature vs. pressure or quantity of liquefied CO2 as a parameter. And also the basic idea for cargo handling system was materialized during loading and unloading at ports as well as sailing.
