As development of high-safety residential energy storage system, large size pouch cell, long life battery module and energy management system are developed. Developed large size pouch cell is high-safety, long life and 10Ah capacity. The proto-type pouch cell is developed by using LiFePO4 as cathode material, graphite as anode material, and gel-type polymer electrolyte. It will be evaluated about electrochemical properties and life performances. The design conception drawing of basic sub-module which is contained with specification of the voltage, current and capacity etc. is done for long life battery module by using large size pouch cell. The battery cell control technology and peripheral circuit which are able to measure each battery cell voltage and temperature, to manage cell balancing, to estimate remain capacity of standard module etc, are also developed. Concept design of battery charging circuit, DC/AC inverter circuit and chassis design for the systems was completed as the result of investigation for high efficiency and downsizing design. Concept design of the system block diagram for the power conditioner including battery charge and DC/AC inverter circuit will be completed by investigating high-efficiency technology.
