今年度は実証場所である東京電力旭変電所にて、超電導ケーブル、端末、ジョイント、冷却システム、変電設備等の建設を行い、実系統での実証試験を開始する予定であったが、平成23年3月に発生した東日本地震による影響で工事が遅れ、システムの建設完成までは実施できたが、実証試験は次年度に延期した。尚、超電導ケーブル、冷却システムについては、その性能を評価すべく、事前に冷却試験を実施する計画に変更し、冷却システムについては単体の検証試験を実施した。
[1]「高温超電導ケーブルの総合的な信頼性研究」
(1)トータルシステム等の開発
・冷却システムの高性能化の検討(前川製作所)
超電導ケーブル用として、冷却能力:5kW、COP:0.1、メンテナンス間隔:30000時間以上を有する、大容量・高性能冷却システムの開発を開始した。今年度は、性能、耐久性を決定するターボ圧縮機、膨張機の設計・製作・単体性能試験を実施し、性能試験において、定格の47000回転の運転に成功した。
(2) 送電システム運転技術の開発(住友電工、東京電力、前川製作所)
実証試験前に行った、冷却システムの単体検証試験の結果について解析し、運転方法、温度、圧力の制御方法について、再確認を行った。それらの結果については、運転マニュアルに反映させた。
ケーブル、冷却システム等の故障解析を実施し、それら機器が故障した際のシステムへの影響度合いを解析した。その結果、システムが運転継続できない8項目については、重故障と位置付けた。

As the original plan, the HTS cable system in Asahi substation would be installed and its grid operation would start in 2011. However, due to the influence of the huge earthquake in East Japan occurred in March, 2011, the installation was delayed and the schedule of the grid operation is behind one year. At the present, the HTS cable and the cooling system were installed completely and their performance tests are undergoing ongoing.

R&D item (1) Study on general reliability of HTS cable system
(1) Development of a total system : Study for a high performance refrigerator system (By Mayekawa)
 We started to develop for a refrigerator system with 5 kW capacity, 0.1 of COP and more than 30000 hours maintenance interval. In this fiscal year, a turbo compressor and expansion machine, which is one of the most important components to determine its performance and reliability, has been developed to demonstrate 47000 rpm of its nominal revolution successfully.

(2) Development of operation technology on electric power transmission (by SEI, TEPCO and Mayekawa)
 The performance tests for the cooling system itself have been done. In consideration of their results, operation methods of temperature and pressure of the HTS cable system were reconfirmed and reflected in the operation manual.
 Failure analysis were conducted for the cable, the cooling system and other items to investigate their influence for the operation and/or the total system. As the results, eight items are picked up for the major failure not to continue the system operation any more.

(4) Demonstration of reliable performance in the real grid (by SEI, TEPCO and Mayekawa)
 A HTS cable, which has two parts of part A with 78 m length and part B of 160 m length), has been installed into the conduit of the Asahi Substation under control of its pulling tension and set to the designed position. And, assembling of the terminations and a cable to cable joint and vacuuming their thermal insulation layer were finished. Then, a gas proof test of 0.5 MPaG was finished for the LN2 container successfully. The measured values of the capacitance and the insulation resistance of the HTS cable showed favorable results.
 The cooling system was also installed in the Asahi Substation to arrange six refrigerators, two circulated pumps, a reservoir tank and other equipments. Then, its performance tests have been conducted to confirm its designed performance of cooling capacity and circulating power and basic control sequences of temperature, pressure, refrigerator rotation and so on.
 Installation of some equipments for connecting the HTS cable and the grid have been delayed due to the earthquake. It will be completed in the summer of 2012.

R&D item (2) Study on Normalization of operation technology for HTS cable system
 Some data in terms of testing results and studies on testing method were reported at the WG on CIGRE B1.
 Study on lower AC loss for actual HTS cable was conducted with Nigata University to have good results for realizing the AC loss of 1 W/m/ph at 3kA by means of the simulation surveed with cable sizes and combinations of HTS wires.
