Summary of research project
This project aims at establishment of calorimetric measurement techniques for the ground thermal energy system. The techniques can measure or estimate the calorie of ground thermal energy utilized for heating or cooling. In order to accomplish the target of project, two kinds of the measurement techniques will be developed.
The first one is the measurement technique using temperature sensors and ultrasonic flow meter placed the pipe outside surface. Another is the calorimetric estimation technique utilizing measurement values of refrigerant temperature in the heat pump unit.
In this year, test apparatus to establish the two kinds of the measurement techniques was constructed in the test field on Hibikino campus of the University of Kitakyushu. The apparatus mainly consists of heat pumps, a fan-coil unit, ground heat exchangers, and a constant temperature bath. The apparatus also has pipes with different diameter and material for validating the flow rate measured by the ultrasonic flow meter.
In addition, measurement devices and verified calorimeters were equipped in the GSHP system installed in the building in Kitakyushu city in order to validate the two types of measurement techniques.
