1) 背景と目的
日本及び米国をはじめとした海外において、データセンタにおける消費電力量は急増しており、省エネルギー化は重要な課題である。データセンタにおける電源システムにおいても、電力変換効率向上のための研究開発や、省エネルギー性能を評価する認証制度など、省エネルギー化の動きが活発化しており、今後は省エネルギー性能が新たな競争軸になりつつある。

1) Studies of technologies for active management power supply system
(a)Studies of design techniques for active management power supply system
Established a method to produce a highly efficient power supply system by controlling appropriate numbers of units of operation, standby, and halt adjusting to changes in load.
Derived active management power supply system configurations in data centers.
(b)Studies of power supply equipment for active management power supply system
Decided on basic specifications for DC power supply equipment and power supply modules and calculated of basic performance of power supply module models.
Determined standby method and decided on operation plans, which provide a highly efficient and highly reliable operation responding to output level.
(c)Studies of Power Supply Units(PSU)in ICT equipment for active management power supply system
Studied high-speed digitally controlled DC-DC converter with peak current-injected control and with speed-up proportional control in order to achieve a quick response to changes in load.Studied digitally controlled DC-DC converter with IIR filters in order to achieve a good current balance and transient response under parallel operation.
Studied digitally controlled DC-DC converter with learning functions using operating information in order to achieve a good transient response.
(d)Studies of system control technologies
Made a control flow chart for active management power supply system corresponded to various states of ICT equipment and power supply systems, etc.
2) Studies of necessary technology to ensure reliability and safety when using DC power.
Determined power distribution voltage and voltage fluctuation range for this power supply system by taking into account collectively safety, legal regulations, various standards, dimension and installation space of relevant equipment, etc.
Studied a mechanism of breaking a circuit and DC power supply system configuration that can break DC immediately and accurately without affecting other systems and equipment when an electric accident occurs.
Studied a method for detecting unusual heating and intermittent discharge phenomena at imperfect connections.
Studied a grounding method and electric leak detection method.
3) Verification of effects of active management power supply system in the data center
Derived methods for deciding on the load model.
Made power supply system models using AC power distribution so far at the time of compared it with active management power supply system.
