京都リサーチパークに京都集中研を設置した。集中研には、市販の自動培養装置をベースに開発を効率的に行うための設備を追加した開発用プラットフォームと既存の自動凍結保存装置を改造し、解凍の自動化を含むインターフェース装置を設けたプロトタイプ装置を開発して設置するとともに、両装置間の連携を可能とした。

(1) Research item 1: The development of the technology for stable cultivation and preservation of human stem cells
1-1 The development of an automatic cell processing and freezing preservation machine for the stable cultivation
Kyoto concentrated research laboratory was established at Kyoto Research Park. The platform based on the product of an automatic cell processing machine that is aiming efficient development and the prototype of freezing preservation machine with the interface including thawing mechanism are installed here. Those can move in cooperation.
 The fundamental algorithm for noninvasive estimation of iPS cell quality and characteristics using imaging technology has been developed. The correlativity between this new technology and conventional biological evaluation was partially confirmed. Furthermore, the elemental technology of minimally invasive 3-D imaging has been developed.
1-2 The development of the culture substrates and medium optimized for stable cultivation of stem cells
An improved protocol for large-scale production of the functionally active fragment of laminin 511 has been developed. Several candidates for the laminin fragments with enhanced activity and/or stability have been designed. The conditions for coating culture dishes were optimized with respect to the activity and stability of the coated proteins.
