1)既存海水淡水化施設の調査
国内、海外の海水淡水化施設を文献、インターネットなどで調査し、このうち国内の福岡(海の中道奈多海水淡水化センター:まみずピア)、沖縄(沖縄県企業局海水淡水化センター)の2箇所についてはその施設を訪問し、施設の概要、運転の状況などを聞き取り調査した。一方、海外の淡水化施設は、我が国企業が淡水化施設の輸出などで関与している場合、その概要を国内で担当者へのアンケート等により調査し、日造水能力が5万トン以上の施設について、施設名称、造水能力、運転開始年、プラントメーカー等について整理した。
英文要約1) Survey on Existing Seawater Desalination Facilities The purpose of this section's research is to figure out the situation of existing desalination facilities, including deep seawater use in Japan. And also, we made same kind of surveys in other countries such as North and Latin America, Southeast Asia, Middle East, Africa, and Europe. 2)Survey on Marine Environment and Country Conditions regarding Existing Facilities We studied existing facilities in abroad, focusing on marine environment, such as intake water depth, tidal current, water quality, water temperature, soil condition, etc. and also on the general country conditions for the potential demand of water, such as population, GDP, seawater desalination capacity, freshwater production volume, water use, urban development plan, etc. 3) Study for Existing (Surface and Deep) Seawater Intake Structure The existing seawater intake technologies are reviewed upon the viewpoints of intake water depth, pipe diameters, pipe materials, pipe installation methods, and others. The result is as follows: ・The intake structures for a large amount of seawater are mainly targeting surface seawater, and these structures are all for the cooling systems for nuclear and oil/coal-fired power plants. ・The deep seawater intake structures are most of all used for seawater desalination. Based upon these findings, visiting study and hearings on some domestic and foreign seawater intake structures are conducted. 4) Study for Seawater Intake Technology For the next step, the intake technologies for a large amount of seawater are examined, by gathering related information and literatures. And the future forecast of each technology is discussed in the research committee in order to clarify the optimum technology to be adopted for a large amount of seawater. 5) Investigation of Seawater Desalination Technology for the Reduction of Pretreatment Process It is recognized that both of construction cost and the operation cost will be able to be cut down by reducing and eliminating the pretreatment process for the Reverse Osmosis(RO) seawater desalination technology. The elemental technologies for the reduction of pretreatment process are analyzed, paying attention to the trends of materials, the contents of current problems facing with, and outlook for the future development. Water quality of seawater to be put into RO is considered as another vital issue to reduce the pretreatment equipment. 6) Survey on Marine Environment and Country Conditions for the Candidate Sites As the candidate sites for test and/or future full-scale seawater desalination plant, we examined nearly two dozens of countries where serious water problem exist. And we conducted the same study on marine environment and country conditions as mentioned above. We sent study teams to Spain and United States of America. 7) Study on Possibility of Reducing Pre-Treatment Process of Seawater Desalination Evaluation factors are examined from the reviewed comparative points of view for the selection of the candidate sites of large scale seawater desalination plant. The factors examined are as follows: ・Water Stress Factor(Supply and Demand Ratio): A whole balance of Agricultural Use, Industrial Use, Drinking Use of water. ・Physical Factor: Population growth, Distance from City to Sea and Distance from the Coast to the Water Depth up to 200 Meters. ・Economic Factor: Industrial structures, not only on the water consuming industries but also on agricultural sector.
