英文要約We accumulate data of microbial community variation in the working SWRO plants to clarify the relevance between environmental factors and bio-fouling formation. The purpose of this study is to optimize the chemical-free operation of SWRO plant.  In 2011, we examined the variations of microbial cell amount and community structure in pilot-plants at the Kochi Prefectural Deep Seawater Laboratory. The three series of pilot plant were operated under different condition, which plant supply water and chemical addition were changed, to compare the microbial community structure associated with fouling formation. Water samples were obtaioned from each processing step in the plants. Microbial community structure were examined by DGGE and the total number of bacteria was measured by DAPI staining.  Total cell count is 10000 ~ 100000cell/ml in surface and deep seawater. There was no significant difference in total cell count of the samples collected in June and November. Microbial community structure is represented by band pattern of DGGE. DGGE band patterns had been changes during SWRO process under chemical or chemiucal-free oparations. The similar band patterns were obserbed between raw seawater, supply water and UF washing water samples under chemical-free condition, it indicated to remove microorganisms by UF treatment. In the case of chemical addition, the band patterns between raw water and supply water samples was changed.  We carried out the sulfur or ferrous oxidizing enrichment culture used foulant as inoculum, because inorganic fouling due to corrosion of base material occurred in start-up period. Iron oxide and sulfuric acid formation were confirmed and it indicated Fe/S metabolizing bacteria participates in biofouling.
