1.1 事業目的

According to “The Basic Energy Plan” (decided by the Cabinet in 2010), in order to secure the best mixture of energy resources, demonstrative work including supply infrastructure shall be reinforced in cooperation among Japan-U.S.- Europe, related areas and also with private enterprises towards the commencement of commercialization of FCV in 2015.
The purpose of this project is to make clear the feasibility of introducing foreign hydrogen station technologies into Japan, which will lead to large cost-reduction and improvement of product quality and liability.
AIR LIQUIDE JAPAN LTD. (hereinafter referred to as "ALJ") and NISSAN MOTOR CO.LTD (hereinafter referred to as "NISSAN") will work together for demonstration of the foreign technologies, and aim to obtain the data on safe and practical usage of hydrogen stations in Japan.
1. Goal of the Entire Project
(1) Final goal (at the end of FY2015)
We will obtain necessary data on the safe and practical usage of the stations for commercialization stage related to the technologies that have advantages to introduce into Japan.
(2) Midterm goal (at the end of FY2011)
We obtain necessary information of design/technologies from foreign entity, and make clear the effects (cost, performance) and required tasks for obtaining the permissions such as preparation of documents, product evaluation and modifications of the systems.
2. R&D items
Main R&D items are related to; preparation for KHK permissions and economical evaluation of the systems, 70MPa filling technology with IR communication, low cost pre-cooling technology, design for high efficient hydrogen storage systems, foreign compressor, packaging technology for transportable type hydrogen station, and manufacturing dummy tank with IR communication system.
3. Content of R&D in FY 2011
We investigated the advantages of introducing foreign technologies with reviewing references and documentation of previous projects received from Air Liquide Advanced Technology (ALAT). In order to fully understand the content of received documents, we have organized regular conference calls and a face to face meeting with ALAT’s engineers in Japan. Then, we visited KHK to start preparation for obtaining the permissions that are required for the installation of the hydrogen station. At the same time, we evaluated the cost of manufacturing hydrogen stations with the introduced foreign technologies in Japan. We also evaluated Japanese components to compare the price and the specifications of foreign parts.
Main results
After the investigation, we found that ALAT has good references for Hydrogen filling stations in the world.
