(1)事業概要
燃料電池自動車用水素容器のバルブハウジングは,軽量化・低コスト化のニーズが高い。現状はステンレスを使用しているため、重たく、切削加工時間が長く、生産コスト高の課題がある。そこで,切削しやすく生産コストが低く、しかも軽量、水素脆化しないアルミニウム素材の開発を行う。

Assessment and Development of Aluminium Materials for Hydrogen (FY2010-FY2012) FY2011 Annual Report (3)Currently, the material used for a hydrogen container valvehousing of fuel cell vehicle is stainless steel, which is heavy, hard to process, and expensive to produce. It is necessary to reduce the weight and the production cost. To solve these problems, we are developing an aluminum material which is easy to process with low production cost, lightweight, and free from hydrogen embrittlement. Between FY 2010 and FY 2011, we have been searching for an aluminum alloy which can achieve 10% greater performance of 0.2% proof stress than 6061 aluminum alloy, while keeping the same performance (including extrudability, workability, and hydrogen embrittlement) as 6061 aluminum alloy. The aim of this development is to develop an aluminum alloy which can provide 15% greater performance of 0.2% proof stress than 6061 aluminum alloy, while keeping the same performance (including extrudability, workability, and hydrogen embrittlement) as 6061 aluminum alloy.
In FY 2010, we have finished the manufacture of 6 aluminum alloy samples which have different composition, as well as the research of the grain structures.
In FY 2011, we have finished the investigation of tensile properties and machinabilities of 6 aluminum alloy samples. In these samples, No.6 alloy has achieved target 0.2% proof stress (>360MPa), and the alloy also has better machinability than 6061. Currently, we are assessing the hydrogen embrittlement property and the corrosion-resistance of Alloy No.6 sample.
