For the experimental study in the sea of the gyro wave-power generation system, we conduct a feasibility study (FS) in the assumption site. In the FY2012, we conducted the followings;
1) Investigation of the environmental impact
The environmental impacts of the field test at the offshore of Minami-Izu town, Shizuoka Pref. were investigated. As a result, the environmental impacts were predicted to be small.
2) Consultation with relevant organizations
We explained the summary of the field test plan to the local fishery cooperative association, and discussed about the installation point of the power generation system.
3) Manufacture and running test of the full scale prototype of Gyro
The 50kW prototype of Gyro equipment was manufactured.
The running tests of the prototype of Gyro were conducted. The measured value of the flywheel drive loss was 2.34kW much less than the target value 5.5kW.
4) Performance evaluation of power generation by tank test
The tank tests were conducted to evaluate the power generation performance of the floating body moored at the jacket type mooring equipment. As a result, the power generation performance was improved about five times as compared with the pipe type floating body used for the previous research.
5) Basic design of the jacket type mooring equipment
The basic design of the jacket type mooring equipment was conducted.
6) Construction and evaluation XY control system
The XY control system of Gimbal was constructed.
The Gyro motions were simulated to evaluate the performance of the control system and high efficiency of the control system was confirmed.
7) Cost for the power generation.
The system and maintenance cost of 2MW power generation farm were calculated and the cost for the power generation was estimated to 32.7yen/kWh.
