Three dimensional foils(3DF) enable to use thickness type of electrodes, and reduce the electrode number of sheets necessary for a lithium ion battery(LIB), accordingly they can reduce the material quantity such as separators and a man-hour for the process.But current 3DF have edge projecting from the surface which provides reduction of the reliability of the LIB. Bridge-shaped three dimensional foils (B-3DF), which are developed in this theme, have slit-shaped holes on both sides of the neighborhood of top of the emboss and substantially they have no edge projecting from the surface.As a result of experimental manufacturing mini-samples of ten kinds of B-3DF by January, 2012, and having evaluated a shape and properties of the samples, we adopt a design way of Sample Type No. 8 and have already started the production of the laboratory roll which can process metal foil consecutively mechanically, and produces B-3DF.In the other hand, by the completion the laboratory roll for the B-3DF we intend to establish the production prescription of the LIB suitable for 3DF material, producing laminating pack type batteries experimentally using current 3DF. But a good battery is not gotten for the moment.Furthermore, following trials were achieved 1) Making holes in the top of the convex of the emboss foil by a laser process as the hole formation method not to depend on a mechanical process.2) Etching in acid water solution for removal edges of projection in 3DF.These trials are in the evaluation for the effectiveness now.
