For the experimental study in the sea of the overtopping type wave-power generation system, we conduct a feasibility study (FS) in the assumption site. In the FS, we conduct the followings: Investigation of the natural wave power conditions at the sea of assumption areas.; Basic design and performance evaluation of power generation system; Establishment of the overall plan of the experimental study; Evaluation of the feasibility of the cost less than 40Yen/kWh for the power generation.
The results of 2012-Oct. to 2013-Mar. are as follows.
1) In two assumption ocean space, billow continuous observation investigation was started from November, 2012. /The effect check test of the corrosive protection and the antifoulant paint which prevents an affix was started from December, 2012. /Moreover, investigation of water quality, a deposit, plankton, and a benthic organism was conducted as basic investigation of marine environment in winter.
2) The characteristic experiment of the overtopping quantity, the experiment of the overtopping quantity by the length of an inclination board, the flow velocity characteristic experiment in a pipe by direction of a discharge pipe, and the experiment of the run-up height to the angle of an inclination board were considered.
A total of the turbulent flow model of 16 was simulated using the application of the VOF method, and the optimal turbulent flow model was selected by comparison with an experimental value this time.
3) In order to determine the basic structure of the main part of the overtopping type wave power generation equipment, the basic design which consists of model manufacture of the building frame by 1/30 scale, the outline design of a mount, a main part fixed pile, and a multi-stage type tank and examination of an inclination board was performed.
4) We designed and produced a reference turbine of 200mm diameter experimentally to get the basic characteristic of torque and rotation power generation of overtopping type generator.; We designed and produced a 200W high-efficiency and low-rotation speed type electric power generator experimentally.; In addition, We manufactured a test bench system for performance evaluation of electric generator and system controlling algorithms development experimentally.
