In FY2011, Mizuho Corporate Bank conducted temporary cost-benefit analysis and brief research on business model of smart grid projects. Mizuho also cooperated with local organization for EV promotion

(IV) Comprehensive research
(iii) Economic assessment of a developed system
-Review and update of the cost benefit items selected in the preliminary research
-Screening of the cost benefit items for each player
-Conducting preliminary economic evaluation of the system

(iv) Development and validation of a business model of a low-carbon society system in Maui
-Classification and organization of the demonstrated business model with considering the demonstration matter
-Consideration about the business model in Maui
-Collection and organization of information about other smart grid projects worldwide to examine the business model

(v) Development and validation of a business model of a low-carbon society system for isolated islands
-Listing up regions where the isolated island model would be applicable
-Organization of the conditions required to adopt a business model without the "isolated island" condition that would be developed hereafter

a) Consideration of EV promotion measures in collaboration with local organizations
-Meeting with an EV promotion consortium which consists of local major players to outline this demonstration
-Report the research results and status to the EV promotion consortium about Maui visitor enhancement
-Meeting with the local economic authority to discuss the future cooperative relations
-Meeting with management of a local leading hotel to assure establishing cooperative relations for EV promotion
-Some meetings with the Maui government and the Hawaii state government to share information about this demonstration status, local trend and budget, and future outlook as needed

b) Preliminary research of applicability of the developed business model to other regions
-Collection and organization of basic information about local power infrastructures and utilities in the regions identified as “the island business model would be applicable” in (v)
