In order to cut down the cost for hydrogen gas vessel at hydrogen gas station with regard to this project, the technology development for the large size type 4 composite cylinder will be implemented for practical use. The feasibility study(F/S) including the foundation experiment for its composite cylinder size was implemented in order to produce the type 4 and enlarge it last year 2013. 1)F/S for enlargement of type 4 composite cylinder; in order to visualize some technical issues for being enlarged type 4 composite cylinder, we have gained the standard for respective composite cylinders, participated in the high pressure vessel committee as an observer and regarding some hydrogen storage seminars. Such knowledge which has been built up is made use of the test for developing the type 4 composite cylinder and will be maximized for the upcoming test of it. 2)Evaluation of the plastic liner materials; foundation test whether the high molecular materials would be influenced by hydrogen or not has been implemented. The mock exposure test which is simplified the process that hydrogen is filled in and discharged from the composite cylinder has been implemented.We have recognized some materials are influenced by hydrogen and it depends on the environmental conditions for its exposure test.However; the accelerate aging test in accordance with the extreme conditions as its vessel test has been set up and accomplished in terms of practical use.Consequently, the judgment whether these materials are appropriate or not for being used as a liner from merely the out-put of this accelerate aging test will not be able to be made. 3)For strength of filament winding, correlation between CAE and physical data: the details of boundary conditions and physical capability which used to be input into FEM will be restructured and the tolerance between CAE and physical data will be eliminated has been set up as a target and trying to achieve it. 4)5)The liner structure / consideration of practical approach for production and preparing for its prototype: the sealing system between the plastic liner and the boss which is necessary neither self-sealing nor the structure of adhesive sealing among different types of materials has been invented. Both productivity and capability for its product have been being evaluated by the small prototype. 6)Development of the carbon fiber(CF): The vessel properties (burst pressure, durability etc.) are under evaluation by some types of CF which have variety of mechanical properties (tensile strength and tensile modulus). 7)Developing sizing agent:Uniformity of sizing agent and lubricating agent comportment improved CF abrasion. Uniformity of sizing agent improved RC stability.Mechanical properties of composite was not influenced by lubricating agent comportment.
