英文要約■Outcome of this year

Regarding the development of highly tolerant electrolyte against impurity, prototype electrolyte membrane with additive that inactivates metal impurity (Fe2+) has been fabricated after the selection of additives by screening test.

Regarding the development of high gas barrier
membrane, prototype composite electrolyte membrane with high gas barrier property
has been investigated.

In addition, regarding the development of highly oxygen permeable ionomer, prototype ionomer has been synthesized by inexpensive monomers. It was shown that the prototype ionomer has 2 times higher oxygen permeability than the control ionomer (NafionTM 211CS).

■Future work

Regarding development of highly tolerant electrolyte against impurity, optimization by the amount of additive and its type will achieve good initial performance and durability equal to or better than the control membrane which does not contain much impurity.

Regarding development of high gas barrier electrolyte membrane, 1/10 lower gas permeability of compared to the control membrane will been shown by the optimization of composite type and its amount.

In addition, prototype electrolyte membrane that incorporates above all improvements will be fabricated and to show the equal to or better initial performance and durability against the control membrane. Cost of 1,000yen/m2 in case of 10 million m2 per annual production should be projected.

Regarding development of highly oxygen permeable ionomer, 5 times higher oxygen permeability will been shown by optimizing inexpensive monomer structure.
