In the past, the titanium hydrodynamic bearing type implantable axial flow pump
(Pump Flow: 5L/min., Head Pressure: 100 mmHg, Rotational Speed: 9,000 rpm, Size: φ3 cm x 10 cm, 50 ml, Weight: 150 g) has been designed and manufactured for adults. This time, the prototype of the pump which can assist circulation with flow of 1 to 4 L/min. is manufactured so as to be applicable to small patients by changing and improving blood flow passage and blade profile of the pump for adults.
【Detail of research and development】
In this fiscal year, the following items were conducted.
-Design, manufacture and performance testing for prototype of axial flow pump
【Results】
-A small axial flow pump was manufactured. (length 121→81mm, 33%down)
-It was confirmed that the prototype pump manufactured for small patients could be operated with the design points for small patients (1-4L/min., 100 mmHg).
2,Design, manufacture and verification of basic behaviors of the driving device
(Companies in charge: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., NIPRO)
Design, manufacture and verification of behaviors of the driving device for
operating the dynamic bearing type implantable axial flow pump are conducted. The driving device consists of a driver, portable batteries, a portable battery charger,
a commercial power source converter. Each equipment is designed and manufactured
so that they can be used for the pumps for both adults and small patients excluding
portable batteries. Each equipment is designed to have specification such as
operability assuming application in hospitals and for long term home care, display of driving condition, alarm function, etc.
【Detail of research and development】
In this fiscal year, the following items were conducted.
- Improvement of the electrical safety test and electromagnetic compatibility
- Implementation of alarm function, raise the volume level.
【Results】
-A small housing driver and mobile battery were manufactured.
-The electrical safety test and electromagnetic compatibility were improved.
-The volume of level was increased.
