1) Development of Offshore Wind Turbine Generator :

Commissioning works have been completed by the end of January 2013 and the offshore demonstration wind turbine began to operate thereafter.
The demonstration studies have been started. As follows
・Measurement for concentration of salt material in the nacelle
・Effectiveness of the nacelle anti-corrosion systems
・Effectiveness of the lightning protection system
・Effectiveness of the erosion protection system for blades

2) Research and development of the foundation :

Load cells were installed on the anchor bolts of the tower. The on-site measurement of stress and wave pressure acting on the foundation was started.
The seabed topography after the deployment of the foundation and filter units was measured.

3) Advancement of dynamic analysis model and verification by measurements :

i) Measurement of tower oscillation
Strain gauges and accelerometers were installed in the tower. The on-site measurement was started. The operation of the data collection and distribution system was also started.

ii) Improvement of dynamic response analysis:
Excitation test of the test wind turbine was carried out by using sweep wave, sine wave and free vibration. The damping ratios for 1st and 2nd mode in fore-aft direction are 0.25% and 2.5% respectively. On the other hand those in side-side direction are larger, and 2.5% and 3.2% respectively.

iii) Load evaluation of the test wind turbine :
Wind response measurement at the test wind turbine was carried out and the wind load on the turbine was estimated by using numerical simulation. The relationship between wind speed at the measurement mast and power output, rotor speed and pitch angle showed good agreement with design value while the relationship between those parameter and the nacelle wind speed does not. Numerical simulation showed that mean overturning moment at the tower base is independent on turbulence intensity and increases with wind speed for under rated wind speed while it decreases above rated speed. On the other hand, the maximum overturning moment shows large value for large turbulence intensities.

4) Construction of tower and foundation :

The construction of the foundation was completed at the Port of Higashi-Harima. The foundation was towed to the site and deployed. The filter units for anti-scouring were also deployed.
