1. Research and Development of Ultra-bright and Ultra-photostable Fluorescent Nanoparticles

 We identified the issues about staining human breast cancer tissues last fiscal year. The improved adsorption properties of the water-soluble polymer on the fluorescent nanoparticle surface enabled us to avoid nonspecific absorption and the loss of antibody activity, respectively. This fiscal year the further improved technologies above were capable to obtain more precise results. We also started the research for the practical application as reagents, for example the storage stability. We are aiming to distribute the trial samples next fiscal year. The feasibility study with a pharmaceutical company was launched and shows promising results. The other feasibility studies with several pharmaceutical companies are under discussions.



2. Research and Development of Fundamental Technology for Nano-imaging of Cancer Tissues

 We successfully observed that the particles were bonded to the proteins on human tissue. The fluorescence profile analysis of the bright spots allowed us to provide a wider dynamic range and more precisely protein expression evaluation compared to the previous method.
