1) Measurement of meteorological and oceanographic quantity:

The meteorological observation has been continuing. Observed data shows different characteristics between the wind from land-side and from sea-side.
The oceanographic observation has been continuing. Observed data shows the correlation of wind speed with wave height and current velocity.
The operation of data collection and distribution system has been continuing.

2) The verification and the Improvement of numerical simulations :

i) Prediction of wind speed under normal condition :
The simulated wind speed by mesoscale model shows good agreement with the measurement For the wind from land, due to the large upstream surface roughness, turbulence intensity is larger than the wind from offshore. In summer, when the atmosphere is stable, the power exponent of the vertical profile of the mean wind speed is larger than in winter.

ii) Prediction of wind speed during typhoon :
A new method to predict the wind field during typhoon was proposed. This method combines the wind speed filed predicted by typhoon model and mesoscale model by using optimized parameter. This method was validated by using measurement data and it was shown that the proposed model improved the prediction accuracy of the wind speed field compared to conventional method.

iii) Prediction of wave in normal condition :
It was shown that the wave spectrum measured at this project site show double peak at swell and wind wave. Conventional wave model could not simulate the swell component and underestimated the significant wave period. By using higher order difference scheme for energy transfer between wave period and direction, the swell component was clearly simulated and accurate wave period estimation was made possible.

iv) Prediction of wave during typhoon :
Wave simulation was carried out by using the wind field data obtained by proposed model as boundary condition. While conventional wave simulation, where the wind field was estimated by either typhoon model or mesoscale model, underestimates the wave height during typhoon, proposed model show good agreement with measurement at Nakagusuku-wan at Okinawa and Kashima close to Choshi.

3) Design and construction of the observation tower:

The construction of the foundation of the observation tower was completed at the Port of Higashi-Harima. The foundation was towed to the site and deployed. The filter units for anti-scouring were also deployed.

4) Detailed research of the impact on environment :

Detailed research of the impact on environment has been carried focusing on the effect on the wildlife, marine life, etc. In 2013, the current environmental condition after the structure was set up has been researched, and the data has been analyzed.
