Carbon nanotube is the key material supporting nanotechnology. The budget prices and the long-life life capacitor using CNT are developed. Specifically, the CNT lamination type capacitor aiming at the improvement in performance of a CNT capacitor and improvement in reliability is developed. It aims at industrializing battery systems, such as a mobile phone, medical treatment, a car, and an artificial satellite, eventually. The combined high output with a rechargeable battery, high energy, and the CNT hybrid storage battery which has a long-life life are aimed at.
Development of Lowering the cost of efficient CNT

1) Development of manufacture equipment
In the current fiscal year, development for enlargement of a synthetic furnace was performed and it was verified whether continuation composition would actually be possible.
-A large-sized furnace direct descent Φ100mm and 1500 mm in length was developed.
-10 g of CNT composition is already possible at continuation operation for synthetic rate 4 hours of 2.5 g/h.
-The cost price concerning CNT 10g manufacture is as the following calculations, and attained in 56 yen /ｇ.
2)Quality improvement of CNT
The preparation rate of a catalyst and materials was changed at the large-sized examination furnace and the examination by various conditions was advanced .
-The purity of CNT is 88% to not less than 90% of the purity of a desired value now.
Development of CNT multi-layer capacitor
For the above-mentioned two items to achieve the following target, the technology development was done.
1) Develop the large scale furnace to produce the CNT continuously.
-The production rate is 2.5g/h. And,the impurity of. the CNT would be 10% or less.
2) Develop the multi-layer CNT capacitor.
- The working voltage is more than 60V.
- The capacity is more than 14F.
3) Improve the cyclic degradation rate.
-Goal is 100,000 cycle, 10%.
4) Develop the practical multi-layer CNT capacitor.
- Develop the practical multi-layer CNT capacitor system and perform the evaluation test.
