英文要約We have developed high power and high efficiency 9xx-nm edge-emitting laser diodes, and investigated fiber coupling technologies in this fiscal year. We have confirmed the operations of single-emitter laser diodes with an output power of 20 W and a peak power conversion efficiency of 65%, and laser diode arrays with an output power of 300 W and a peak power conversion efficiency of 60%, respectively. The environmental reliability tests have also been carried out based on Telcordia GR-468-CORE standard. The test results successfully prove the reliability of single-emitter fiber modules. The optical coupling technologies between the single-emitter laser diode and the 0.15NA fiber has been studied. A coupling efficiency of 90% has been achieved in the practical operation range. It is revealed that the far-field divergence angle in a slow axis of the laser diode must be suppressed for a coupling efficiency of over 90% in a higher output power range of around 20 W.
