Development item 1:
A study of upgrading low-rank coal plant installation
In the area of lignite upgrading, there are two investigation items;
1. Upgrading plant design.
2. Research for market and policy of upgrading business.
About #1, firstly we have received the EBL (Energi Batubara Lestari) coal sample (Hasnur asset) and conducted basic coal analysis as the reference of plant designing. And then, we visited the Hasnur assets of EBL coal mine, hauling road, jetty area, palm plantation, and palm oil refinery in order to collect the information and data for plant location and designing. Judging from these data and information collected from the visit and interview with Hasnur people, we have set plant site to be the vicinity of palm oil refinery. Plant capacity is determined to be 1 million ton of output per annum based on the research of Indonesian coal supply and demand prediction. By assembling above data and information, we have prepared the plant material balance, heat balance, process flow diagram, and equipment list.
About #2, we interviewed with a key person of ESDM (Energi dan Sumber Daya Mineral) to hear the government draft of lignite upgrading policy. Potentiality of application of this integration system and Indonesian coal supply and demand were investigated through the local consultant.
Development item 2:
The business potential of untapped natural resources and the system of their practical use
We examined the business potential of fly-ash soil conditioner and EFB (Empty Fruit Bunch) gasification power generation, and made the trial calculation of the greenhouse gas reduction effect by reducing consumption of the fossil fuel accompanying the use of EFB.
We manufactured fly-ash soil conditioner, and offered it to the experiments in Indonesia.
We performed pH measurement and specimen extraction of acid soil at the coal mine in Indonesia, and started the experiments to verify the application effect of fly-ash soil conditioner as well as the durability of its soil improvement effect.
We implemented the conceptual design and cost estimate of building the plant and equipment to manufacture fly-ash soil conditioner in Indonesia.
We conducted market research of the existing soil conditioners and fertilizers which could possibly compete against our fly-ash soil conditioner in Indonesia.
We conducted investigation of infrastructure to transport fly-ash soil conditioner in Indonesia.
We conducted investigation of the regulation about use of fly-ash soil conditioner.
We examined the amount of EFB generated in the plantation at mining company.
We examined EFB gasification-power-generation equipment.
Development item 3:
Business assessment and business problem extraction
After integrating 3 plants (Lignite Upgrading, Soil Conditioner, EFB Gasification), we have estimated CAPEX, OPEX, IRR, and CO2 reduction in base case of integrated plant operation.
