(1) Development of ultra-low-cost and high-efficiency Ag-free hetero-junction solar cell. We have investigated plating materials and plating process conditions to realize Ag-free metallization scheme with advantages of low-cost and high productivity. In this subject, we have characterized materials utilized in the Ag-free metallization scheme under various production conditions in viewpoints of productivity, properties of electrode, and photo-voltaic performance of solar cell. Besides, we have also confirmed that well-designed finger electrode prepared by a simple preparation method can improve photovoltaic performance of hetero-junction Si solar cell. (2) Development of new generation Ag-free hetero-junction solar cell module.We have developed fabrication process technology and evaluation technology for the modularization of Ag-free heter-junction solar cell. In this subject, we have demonstrated that modularization of Ag-free heterojunction cell can be performed without a reduction of photovoltaic performance of Ag-free hetero-junction solar cell. We also investigate modularization technology for solar cell with Si wafer thickness less than 100um.
