Introduction: The purposes of this project in our consortium are the development of materials for 1) the long durability module, 2) the high efficient dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) . [Consortium targets (Period: until the end of FY2012)] The results of the project are the followings. 1) The energy conversion efficiency in about 20cm2 module attained 7%. 2) The energy conversion efficiency in about 1cm2 cell attained 11%. (Relative degradation ratio shall be reduced to less than 10% under JIS-C8938 standard tests) 3) Improvement of TiO2 paste synthesis process to achieve low cost DSC.
Experiment and results:
1) We’ve developed the pastes used for DSCs the electrodes of which are all printed. The energy conversion efficiency in about 0.25cm2 monolithic cells attain to over 7%.

2) Hydrothermal process was applied to synthesize the inorganic particles which have high crystallinity and shape-controlled. We have examined the additive and the condition of hydrothermal process to synthesize the titanium dioxide nano-particles with specific surface plane.

3) We’ve developed the new TiO2 paste synthesis process and achived \8/W of the manufacturing cost. The energy conversion efficiency of the cell -using the new paste still maintained high performance.
