Title : Hydrogen Utilization Technology Development. Development of Low-cost equipment. system for FCV and HRS. Development of Low-cost Accumulators of CFRP Tanks Made from Aluminium Alloy Liner (FY2013-FY2015) FY2013 Annual Report

The cost of an accumulator, which accounts for the cost of equipment of a hydrogen station (HRS), is high. So in this project, we aim at cost reduction of the accumulator. The target of the accumulator manufacturing cost is 20,000 yen/L or less, with more than 50,000 times cycle use. The accumulator’s usual highest pressure is 90MPa and weight is 3 kg or less. In current fiscal year, we performed design development of a carbon reinforced plastics (CFRP) tanks for the HRS ordered in 2013 and received the usage permission at the HRS. And we also started development of Tow-Prepreg (TPP) and new CFRP tanks design for the HRS ordered 2015. Furthermore, for the improvement in burst strength, we are developing the heating filament winding (FW) method towards large-sized CFRP tanks manufacture. For the improvement in number of times of cycle use, we investigated the influence of the crack of aluminum alloy material and examined the disposal method of aluminum alloy liner inside the CFRP tanks.
