Subtheme1: Research and Development for Appropriate, Reasonable and Simple Method for Hydrogen Quality Control

(1)Development of Hydrogen Quality Control Guideline for Appropriate, Reasonable and Simple Method: We enacted the hydrogen quality control guideline especially from the points of view of gaseous impurities likely to contain in HRSs (Hydrogen Refueling Station). We submitted it to FCCJ(Fuel Cell Commercialization Conference ofJapan).

(2)Development of Hydrogen Sampling System and Hydrogen Sampling Method: We manufactured the sampling system of high pressure hydrogen gas supplied from the refueling nozzle in HRSs (Hydrogen Refueling Station). We sampled hydrogen gas in 27 HRSs. in order to analyze the characteristics of ISO14687-2 using this system. Also, we manufactured the sampling system of low pressure hydrogen gas to examine the quality from the part of hydrogen pressure under 1MPa condition in HRS for the purpose of a simple way.

(3)Development of a Simple Analytical Instrument: We examined TOF-MS (Time of Flight Mass Spectroscopy) method, HEMS (Hydrogen Elimination Measurement System) method and compact GC (Gas Chromatography) for a short-time analysis of sampling hydrogen. As a result, we adopted TOF-MS method because the analysis performance was most excellent compared with other equipments.

(4)Development of Filters in HRSs for Particulates in Hydrogen: We examined filters in HRS for the capture of particulates in hydrogen. We confirmed particulates weight in HRSs. were very low level.

(5)Verification Tests in HRSs: We conducted verification tests for hydrogen samplings from refueling nozzle in 27 HRSs and we analyzed the hydrogen characteristics of ISO14687-2. Also, we sampled high and low pressure hydrogen gases to analyze them using a conventinal method and TOF-MS method respectively as a TOF-MS evaluation of HRSs site.

(6)Search for a New and an Innovative Analytical Method: We searched a new and an innovative analytical method for Item (3) and we are doing test of HEMS method.

(7)Study for Next Term ISO for Hydrogen Quality: We continued the study for the next term ISO together with members of Subtheme 2.
