英文要約Title: Development of fundamental technology for novel energy-controlling materials realizing varying barrier functions (FY2014-FY2015) FY2014 Annual Report

This project aims at demonstrating the feasibility of developing fundamental
technologies that can generate novel energy-controlling materials based on varying
barrier functions. Varying barrier functions are essential in controlling energy flow to
make the society both environment-friendly and consumer-friendly, in which the
citizens enjoy high-quality life with minimum energy consumption. After 1st research
and development board, we conducted the following actions.

A-1 Development of panoscopic structure control technologies
The panoscopic structure control technologies for UV and NIR shielding materials will
be developed. The studies on the fabrication of nanoparticles and nanosheets with UV
and NIR shielding abilities were started.

A-2 Development of high gas-barrier coating materials
Our purpose is to develop the coating technology with high hydrogen barrier for
sunshine reflecting materials. Study for developing high-hydrogen-barrier materials
with high transparency (>75%) was started.

A-3 Development of nano-hybrid transmissive material for thermal insulation
We explore the possibility of flexible transmissive materials with high thermal
insulation performance. We started researches on control of nanostructure of porous
hybrid materials.

A-4 Development of a swithcable shading film and a solar thermal control film
We will develop a switchable mirror film which can keep transparent state for a
prolonged time and a solar thermal control film with high stability for oxidation
degradation. We started researches on keeping transparent state of the shading film
and on polymer-nanoparticle for solar thermal control film.

A-5 Fundamental research of light, heat and sound barrier using metamaterials
In this project, we will realize the metamaterials that can control light, heat and sound.
We started to research their structure by using computer simulation.

A-6 Fundamental research of phonon technology
 (Under making re-consign contract.)

B-1 Development of clay nanosheets for high gas-barrier materials
We develop techniques for synthesizing high-aspect ratio clay nanosheets that
contributes hydrogen-barrier property for light-transmitting film. Trials of synthesizing
high-aspect ratio clay were started.

B-2 Development of raw materials for nano-hybrid thermal insulation materials.
We investigate the raw materials used for a new nano-hybrid material. We started a
study of optimization of the polymer composition.

C-1 Development of the solar energy control film
Our project aims to make prototype samples of thermos-chromic films. We started
synthesis of vanadium dioxide nanoparticles research of binder materials necessary for
coating and examination of the instrumental analysis conditions.

C-2 Development of switching system for switchable mirror film
We will develop a reflective control switchable shading film which can keep transparent
state for a prolonged time by using the stimulation response control technologies. We
started the consideration of new switching system to keep transparent state for a
certain period of time.

C-3 Development of fabrication system for nano-hybrid thermal insulating materials
We develop a fabrication system for nano-hybrid thermal insulating materials. We
proceeded to the basic design of the device.
