Research and development project on fundamental technology to realize 3,000m3 class hydrogen liquefaction and storage system for energy purpose was fulfilled. Implementation plan of FY2014 was accomplished sufficiently. Status of achievement on each development item is described below.
1) Process evaluation of hydrogen liquefaction system
Hydrogen liquefaction precooling system of which liquefaction basic unit was improved 20% compared to existing liquefied nitrogen precooling system was proposed.
2) Kinetic analysis on hydrogen liquefaction cold box
Kinetic analysis on 50%/h load change was fulfilled and the problem to correspond to rapid load change was clarified.
3) Study on High efficient recycle compressor
CFD analysis for large-scale centrifugal compressors was fulfilled and the first stage impeller and diffuser dimensions were decided.
4) Development of vacuum film layer insulation
Film layer insulation element test for large-scale double shell vacuum tank element test was completed. Large scale stainless steel panel bending test was fulfilled. And automatic welding inspection system and procedure was examined.
5) Development of GFRP saddle
Feasibility of large-scale double shell vacuum tank GFRP saddle structure was verified by 1,000m3 class tank test facility.
6) Development of Vacuum panel
Vacuum panel cluster insulation tank system was manufactured. The single panel insulation data was obtained.
7) Development of new steel materials for liquefied hydrogen.
Charpy impact and destructive toughness test was fulfilled for low rare metal content steel test pieces.
8) Development of liquefied hydrogen pump
Liquefied hydrogen pump insulation materials were soaked in liquefied hydrogen for two weeks and fundamental electrical insulation data was obtained.
9) Analysis on boil off hydrogen compressor impeller dimension
CFD analysis was fulfilled on boil off hydrogen compressor impeller dimension and cryogenic hydrogen compression analysis method was established.
10) Hydrogen potential research
Hydrocarbon and renewable energy resource potential research was fulfilled.
