英文要約Title: Leading Program for Energy and Environmental New Technology, Development of Off-Grid Energy-Harvest Device toward a Low-Carbon Society (FY2014-FY2015) FY 2014 Annual Report

This project aims to develop next-generation high-performance energy-supply devices by the combination of solar cells and secondary-batteries/capacitors, which exhibit twice higher performance than the present cases and seven times larger capacity than the present cases, respectively. Subject A: enhancement of functionalities of organic solar cells, consists of five items. In A-1: improvement of the energy conversion performance of solar cells, several materials were investigated for the improvement of photo-electric conversion efficiency. In A-2: preparation of large-size cells of high-performance solar cells, artistic solar cells were designed. RATO employed researchers and performed the production of large-size cells using the pilot-line in RCAST. In A-3: development of novel dye-sensitized solar cells utilizing the incident light towards a near-infrared area, preliminary survey has been carried out concerning the preparative conditions for an efficient dye-sensitized solar cell capable to utilize the incident light up to a near-infrared region using the electrically conductive Ta/SnO2 glass which is transparent to the near-infrared light up to 2500 nm, synthesized by KAST. In A-4: improvement of the performance of photo-rechargeable solar cells, several cells based on the previously developed methods were prepared for the following investigations. Some materials were also prepared for further studies. In A-5: device application of photo-rechargeable solar cells, design of those cells was discussed. Subject B: development of high-performance secondary batteries and capacitors was performed by Graduate School of Engineering, UTokyo, and Bifrostec Inc. In B-1: feasible development of novel secondary batteries and capacitors with seven times higher theoretical energy density than the conventional cases, the electrode samples with various component compositions were fabricated and examined as cathodes of batteries. On the basis of the measurements of voltage and pressure of the cells with the electrode samples during charging/discharging, charge/discharge conditions appropriate to each electrode sample were investigated. In B-2: design and application of high-performance secondary batteries and capacitors, the guidelines for the design of device structure and the processes were investigated. Subject C: development of devices using all-solid state dye-sensitized solar cells, was performed by Ricoh Company, Ltd. Some results were obtained and presented at the annual meeting of the Chemical Society of Japan.
