Kobe university has been moving ahead on our proposal regarding four sub-themes as follow:

1) Discussion of scenarios applying the software system being developed to demonstration examples;
2) Whole concept design of the system being developed;
3) Design and development of software modules;
4) Discussion of the method of system evaluation.

We discussed scenarios to apply the planned software system to windmill example. In this case, since "capability of installation" is first and most important point at the start line of the windmill development, we decided to develop and to evaluate the software tools to assist making decision in the development process. This includes the prediction systems for wind condition, production of electricity, sale of electrical power, and break-even point.

As for scenarios of distilled spirits, a web-mining system to gather and to analyze the information of the market trend has been developed to provide useful information when the distillers discuss about the direction of their products.

The planned software system consists of data input, data analysis, and data display sections. Each section will consist of several programs where each of them will provide relatively simple function. These small programs will be connected via portable lightweight script (lua) and will behave as an aggregated complex system. The planned system will have a web-based user interface for providing excellent portability over different kind of operating systems, which translates to better usability for the end-users.

The software being developed entirely covers the aforementioned sections. The framework for building cooperative applications will be the fundamental component. Applications will access the information recorded in the common memory area on a server via http/web socket communication. This framework will provide the functions for cooperative behavior and for management of tiled wall displays. Other software components being developed are the multi-modal analysis software, the data viewer, and an application that explorews the solution space.

Finally, we have discussed about the possible evaluation approaches for the system being developed. This includes the development period, the development cost, and the quantity of redo, which those were examined as quantitative measures.
