英文要約Title: Development of High-performance Electrochemical Machining System of Next Generation (FY2014-2015) FY2014 Annual Report

(1) Specifications of the prototype of High Performance Electrochemical Machine
Specifications of the power supply to machine unworkable material such as sintered carbide is investigated. Experimental equipment is built and machining experiments are done. According to the results of these experiments, specifications of the power supply and electrolyte flushing were discussed.
In former research, it was shown that ECM of sintered carbide is a promising technology, while many problems have remained to be solved. One of the most important problems is elution of cobalt which is binder material of sintered carbide, and we first studied how to solve this problem. We have found 3 facts.
1) Elution of Cobalt can be inhibited even when sintered carbide is immersed in electrolyte, by heightening of Co ion concentration in the electrolyte.
2) ECM of sintered carbide can be done with Co ion strengthened electrolyte without degradation of material when bipolar power supply is used.
3) It is also the case with ECM of sintered carbide that machined surface quality is not good when flow volume of electrolyte is low and that it is good when flow volume is adequate.

(2) Design of ECM prototype machine
ECM prototype machine was designed based on the experimental result. As an base machine an commercial EDM machine was used and it was modified to add needed functions as an ECM machine. It has 3 axes and electrolyte flushing apparatus. It was installed in Shizuoka Institute of Science and Technology. Next year, power supply for ECM will be equipped to this machine.

(3) Design and build of experimental apparatus for micro ECM
Experimental apparatus for micro ECM was designed. In this year, mechanical parts are produced.
