Shoes have become one of very important gears to support the comfort and injury preventions for runners. Lead users require many functions of the shoes, i.e. fitting, stability, and cushioning. For designing optimal shoes, sole adaptation to their own running motions and to their foot shapes are also important factors. In order to realize the shoe functions, tailor made shoes using 3D printer are efficient. In this project, the finite element model was made using the foot shape data measured by computed tomography images. The model was composed of foot bones and soft tissue. To evaluate ergonomic foot properties, we carried out eigen mode analysis. In the analysis result, the 1st and 2nd modes were movements of plantar-dorsi flexion and inversion-eversion at the ankle. The 3rd mode was internal-external torsion at the mid foot. Modes higher than the 3rd mode ware local modes at the fingers. Then the three lower modes should be considered to design the shoes for lead users. In FY 2015, the shoes designing system with the foot will be developed and the sole structure will be proposed for lead users to adapt the character of their shapes and running movements.
