We summarize our achievement for the research and development of the crack detection system for runways a 3D camera and all direction-moving robot in the 2014 year.
As for the 2014 action item (1); data acquisition and analysis of three-dimensional image by using a three-dimensional camera system, we have carried out crack detection on the asphaltic pavement by three-dimensional camera system in the field. We have observed three-dimensional images under the different conditions, such as, low and high illumination with a series operation of data acquisition, data saving and analyzing, and crack detection. The obtained results show that a range of crack width from 1.7 mm to 5.8 mm and simultaneously a range of crack depth from 2.2 mm to 23.0 mm can be distinguished by the conventional our three-dimensional camera system.
As for the 2014 action item (2); controlling and management of all-direction-moving robot, we have realized the first crack detection by using the three-dimensional camera system mounted on the all-direction moving robot. We have achieved the crack detection from the obtained three-dimensional images captured by robot under the remote controlling.
As for action item (3); effective data acquisition and reutilizing, we have postponed the construction of wireless network systems. The installation and detailed practice of wireless network will be performed in the next year. However, we have examined data structure of three-dimensional images and then achieved the reconstruction and display the stored data as a point cloud data or different formatted image data.
The results mentioned above show that we have achieved our action items of 2014 year with good performance.
