[R&D items and the results] I. Study of electric-generator motors (a) Verification of the power generation performance of the outer rotor motor for electric motorcycles, and SR motor, which does not use permanent-magnet, with the lab test comparing with benchmark motors OR motor was tested for 1 kW power generation, and with the change in the coil-winding design、good performance in output voltage and efficiency was attained equivalent to the benchmark dedicated dynamo motor. SR motor was tested and it was proved that it is possible to be used for power generation by inputting pulse power to the optimal magnetization timing, and 90% or above power generation efficiency was obtained. However, compared with the magnet motors, produced electricity is small, and it remains as a technological challenge to make the output above 3kw and proportional to the motor size, rotation speed and machine input. (b) The performance assessment mounted to micro-hydropower machine
1kw class hydro-power generator waterwheel was installed in the neighboring agricultural waterway, after obtaining consensus with local authority and irrigation association. OR motor was tested for actual use, and the requirements for further technical development was verified. II. Performance assessment for changing micro EV batteries We conducted feasibility study of the the battery exchange system for electric motorcycles by producing the prototype of "electric motorcycle battery exchange station" using the existing battery for cassette type electric motorcycles. We carried out the experiment, appled to the actual rental electric motorcycle charging spots in Itoshima. The questionnaire was carried out for the sightseeing use and the Kyushu University students’attending-school use, and the battery exchange system proved to drastically improve the practicality of an electric motorcycle. III. Formulation of the business plan (a) Sales plan of the electric-generator motors as commercial products We made the prediction cost target combining the existing market product information, market research results, and R&D results, examining production cost.
It proved that the candidates (market needs) for the new development of power generation motors are two types of 1-3 kW, and 3-10 kW. (b) Sales plan of micro-hydropower-generator as a system We conducted the hearing to the domestic hydro-system installers to check the specification, and cost requirements. Also visits to Chinese and Indonesian supply candidate companies were made to check the quality control, cost and logistics of the motor core and waterwheels. We studied the sales situation, market needs, and target total installation cost. Also the need for one stop solution was highlighted. (c) Installation and operation plan of Small hydraulic power plant In order to grasp the local market size, we conducted the evaluation of hydro power potential in Itoshima using GIS analysis, and investigated the appropriate generating-charging spots. It proved that in Itoshima city alone is a potential of more than 2000kw.
