In FY 2013, Mizuho Corporate Bank conducted a tentative cost-benefit analysis and brief survey related to a smart grid business model. Mizuho also promoted the dialogue and cooperation with local organizations, for the success of this demonstration project.

- Conducted Cash-flow analyses on 3 business fields - 1) EV Charging Business, 2) Aggregator Business, 3) EV Charging + VPP Business.
- Updated Parameters related on EV Charging Business based on data gathered during demonstration project
< Outcome >
-According to the result of the cash-flow analysis of 1), under the situation of asset transfer at free of charge, profits would become positive in 2018. Replacement of the charging units would put downward pressure on profits.
- According to the result of the cash-flow analysis of 2), purchase cost and installation cost of μDMSs would put downward pressure on profits.
- According to the result of the cash-flow analysis of 3) using the "expansion" model, profits would become positive in 2017 . On the other hand, according to the result of the cash-flow analysis of 3) using the "convergence" model, profits would become negative in 2025 due to the replacement of the charging units.
- Updated several parameters including the following: Frequency of DC fast charger usage: 2.26 session/week, Charging amount: 8 kWh/session

(iv) Development and validation of a low-carbon society business model in Maui

-Surveyed several companies related to EV charging business and Demand response aggregator business
- Examined the various types of EV charging fees
- Conducted preliminary evaluation of the fees and incentives related to VPP services
< Outcome >
- There are various types of charging fees. For example, some of the companies allow customers to use EV charging equipments without any charge.
- Pay-per-use basis charge shows the highest profitability among the 5 charging fee types.
- The fees and incentives related to VPP services would be able to be set based on electricity retail prices and generation costs.

(v) Development and validation of a low-carbon society business model for isolated islands

a) Examined EV promotion measures in collaboration with local organizations
- Met with MEDB and Maui County to discuss business development after the demonstration project
- Met with HECO and MECO to share information on the progress of the demonstration project, business challenges for the local electricity system, countermeasures for the issues faced, and the future outlook of Maui’s electricity system.

b) Conducted preliminary research on the applicability of the developed business model to other regions
- Listed up regions where the isolated island model would be applicable
