3Evaluation and Analysis on the Metals and Alloys for Hydrogen Environment

The data on basic mechanical properties of some steels in hydrogen environment was widely collected by literature and the comparison was made among various testing conditions such as temperature and pressure to reveal the important factors, which contribute to the establishment of the international standard. In the present fiscal year, the investigation on the low carbon steel SCM435 was carried out by previous literature. In addition, the preparation for the establishment of the guideline for the use of low carbon steels in hydrogen environment in collaboration with JPEC, Kyushu University and Japan Steel Works.
The JRCM organized the group meetings and the members of the group also attended the meetings held by KHK, JPEC and Kyushu University including the meeting on data base presented by Kyushu University which started last year. Moreover, advices were made on the preparation of materials used for the evaluation by Kyushu University and JPEC. The meetings between the JRCM group and the JARI group were also organized to exchange their information useful for the establishment of the international evaluation standard.
