1) Measurement of meteorological and oceanographic quantity:

The meteorological observation has been continuing. From observed data, the influence of the observation tower and those of the offshore atmospheric stability were considered.
The oceanographic observation has been continuing. From observed data the statistical characteristics of the zero-cross significant wave height, the significant wave height from wave spectrum and the long period wave height were considered.
The operation of data collection and distribution system has been continuing.

2) The verification and the Improvement of numerical simulations :

i) Prediction of wind speed under normal condition :
The optimization of the nudging to global analysis data and data assimilation to the measured SST at the site were carried out in addition to the use of land use data with higher resolution. As a result, the prediction error of annual mean wind speed decreased to 2.2% from 7.3%. Using predicted wind field, offshore wind maps were created including the frequency distribution of wind speed and direction, monthly mean wind speed, monthly turbulence intensities, annual mean wind speed and wind energy density.

ii) Prediction of wind speed during typhoon :
By using the wind speed data when a tyhpoon passed over the site, the combined wind field of mesoscale model and typhoon model was validated. Compared to the conventional mesoscale model, the wind speed field obtained by proposed method shows better agreement with measurement. In addition, estimation error of maximum wind speed with 50 years recurrence period by using proposed method was lower than 5%.

iii) Prediction of wave in normal condition :
Wave simulation result was combined with measurement to create sea state map for offshore wind energy application. The overestimation of wave height at low wave height region and wave period at short period were improved and the estimation error of the average of monthly siginificant wave height was reduced to 5.0% from 12.3%. Based on this analysis data, the sea state map around Choshi was created including combined probability distribution of wave height, wave period and wave direction.

iv) Prediction of wave during typhoon :
By using the wave data when a tyhpoon passed over the site, the wave simulation with combined wind field of mesoscale model and typhoon model was validated.
Compared to the conventional wave simulation based on wind field obtained by mesoscale model, the wave height obtained by proposed method shows better agreement with measurement. In addition, estimation error of maximum significant wave height and period with 50 years recurrence period by using proposed method were lower than 10%.

3) Design and construction of the observation tower:

The construction of the foundation of the observation tower was completed at the Port of Higashi-Harima. The foundation was towed to the site and deployed. The filter units for anti-scouring were also deployed.

4) Detailed research of the impact on environment :

Detailed research of the impact on environment has been carried focusing on the effect on the wildlife, marine life, etc. In 2014, the current environmental condition after the structure was set up has been analyzed.
