英文要約 This paper reports an abstract of the half way report of “The research of Inverter - Motor Integrated System for Electric
Vehicle” which had been investigated from Oct. 2014 to Mar. 2015.
This research involves 2 topics, each result is summarized as follows.

1. A new motor control system which includes motor stator construction
An interleave PWM method has been proposed. The stator windings are divided and each stator winding connects to
a half-bridge inverter. Each inverter can control its output voltage, the interleave PWM method becomes possible. In
this year, to confirm its effect the method applied to SR motor. The FEA result showed that the iron loss was reduced
about 15%, the efficiency was improved about 2%. This method will apply to designed PMSM in the next year.

The in-wheel motor design has been investigated. To decide the maximum current of the motor, the maximum torque
which is calculated from the condition of climbing the step was calculated. From the result, the current of the motor
phase was decided as 120A, the 40kW motor can be inside in the wheel.

2. An inverter system for the integrated motor system
To realize the inverter module which locates on the motor, the power chip characteristics have been researched from
the data-sheet. An important result is that the on-resistance of the chip is not different between 600V rated and 1200V
rated device. From the investigation, it is decided to use 1200V rated chip for the module.
Also to decide the number of the chip, the generated loss from the chip was calculated from the Ids-Ron
characteristics. From the result, a single chip construction cannot be ensured from its generated heat, two chips with
parallel connection was selected. The detail design of the module will be done in the next year.
