英文要約Title: Feasibility Study on Chemical Processes Designed by Use of Femtoliter-Scale Reactor(FY2014-FY2015)FY2014 Annual Report

 In order to design an advanced chemical processes, we propose a novel reaction field where a liquid droplet with its volume of a femtoliter level works as a reaction field. The femtoliter-level liquid droplets can be generated by use of electrospray. We made it possible to perform this electrospray in a liquid medium. Since by this liquid-medium elecrospray, a sample solution can be fragmented into the electrically charged liquid droplets in the liquid medium, their movement and collision can be controlled by the electric field in the liquid. Therefore, it will be possible that chemical processes such as mixing, separation, heating, etc. are performed in the liquid droplets. In this research project, we are going to construct the femtoliter-scale reaction field by use of this liquid-medium electrospray. For this purpose, we start investigating the following subjects, (1) mechanism and control on the liquid-medium electrospray, (2) application of the femtoliter-scale reaction field into the precise control of chemical synthesis and the separation/extraction processes, (3) mass-producing method for metal nanoparticles by means of the femtoliter-scale reactor.
