英文要約Title:The development of a low cost hydrogen storage tank with high strength low alloy steel liner (FY2013-FY2015) FY2014 Annual Report

In order to spread the hydrogen energy, it is very important to decrease the construction cost of the hydrogen filling station. One of the strategies develops the low cost hydrogen storage tank. JFE Steel Corporation and JFE Container Corporation started the development of a low cost hydrogen storage tank with a high strength low alloy steel liner and Carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) layer.
Those studies as follows were conducted.
1. Trial productions of 9.4L and 30L tanks and various tests.
The tanks with the volume of 9.4L and the liner of 34CrMo4 steel with tensile strength below 950MPa and CFRP layer were manufactured for measurement of burst pursuer and pressure cycle fatigue property. Fatigue life was confirmed until over 640 thousand cycles. The tanks with the volume of 30L also were manufactured.
2. Development of Eddy-Current testing for fatigue crack inspection.
Eddy-current test was provided for artificial defects and fatigue crack.
3. The fatigue test with cathodic hydrogen charging
 Fatigue life of a 34CrMo4 steel with tensile strength of 1000MPa grade was evaluated by the fatigue test method with cathodic hydrogen charging developed in the last year. Fatigue limit obtained with the test was almost the same as the life under the normal air environment.
