英文要約Title: Research and Development of bridge inspection systems using multicopters (FY2014-2015) FY2014 Annual Report

Our goal is to develop two different kinds of bridge inspection systems using multicopter to assist hands-on bridge inspection.
One is a high resolution image acquisition multicopter system. This multicopter flies under the bridge semi-autonomously and take high resolution consecutive pictures of slab, girders, substructures and shoes for the purpose of inspecting integrity and screening bridges quickly.
The other is a bridge docking multicopter system. This multicopter docks a lower flange of I-girder of steel bridges and makes inspections of detail conditions by taking pictures at close range with an arm camera installed to the multicopter.
Also the efficient data processing system of the data acquired with both systems mentioned above will be developed in this project.
Items studied and developed in FY 2014 are as follows.
An evaluation multicopter for the high resolution image acquisition multicopter was developed to investigate the flight and image acquisition performance. We participated in the demonstration test program held by MLIT and evaluated its performance and problem. We also performed an on-site flight test at Yobuko Ohashi and investigated the relationship between flight conditions, camera settings and image sharpness.
Regarding the bridge docking multicopter, we designed prototypes of multicopter module, docking module and arm camera module. Each module was manufactured and tested independently. These modules will be integrated into one system in the next year. As for the docking module, we made a mock-up of an I-girder in our site and tested the module with it.
In order to develop the specifications of the data processing system, we investigated both the bridge inspection procedure manual and actual inspection activities. We defined functions required for the data processing system to reduce workload of post processing of inspection data. We also investigated data structure of the database to store acquired data by our multicopter systems.
