英文要約Title: The International R&D and Demonstration Project in Environment and Medical Device Sector/The International R&D and Demonstration Project on Robotic Field/Germany Phase 2, robot suit HAL (FY2013-FY2015) FY2014 Annual Report

The results of project related activities performed in FY 2014 are described in this report.
HAL (R) [Hybrid Assistive Limb] is the world’s first cyborg-type robot, by which a wearer’s bodily functions can be improved, supported and enhanced. The purpose of this project is to acquire clinical data of the device in order to expand it’s reimbursement scope to the social health insurance. The clinical data will play an essential role in achieving the purpose. Germany is the biggest medical device market in the EU and a successful expansion of the reimbursement scope has great impact on the business development. The clinical test has shown smooth progress so far and is expected to continue on next year.
The activities from 2014 include the following:

(1) Manufacturing and transportation of HAL units

(2) Discussing protocol for the clinical test (includes meeting between German, Swedish and Japanese teams)

(3) Setting up environments for clinical test
- Staff training
- Developing and implementing device functions for data management

(4) Monitoring clinical test (8 times)

(5) Maintenance of HAL units
- Applying state-of-the-art technology
- Regular maintenance
