(1) Reviewing trends of technology, policy, and implementation status
In this study, the outlines of current R&D activities and features of technology (types of modules, processing costs, recovery rates of resources and toxic substances, etc.) in representative cases were analyzed. Through hearing survey with implementation organizations of the NEDO project (Development of Solar Power Recycling Technology), progress situation and issues were observed. In addition, information on the law system related to PV recycling for handling used PV modules were collected.

In order to propose reuse business models of PV system, the current situation and conditions of the reuse business, interest of reused objects, and obstacles were reviewed through document investigation and hearing survey. Several reuse business models (hypothesis stage) were proposed, and these business models were tested through discussions with experts. In addition, conditions and cost issues regarding shipment of reused objects were analyzed through document investigation and hearing survey to study economic evaluation methods. In this study, information on technical considerations related to reuse business of PV system were collected.

(2) Analysis of distribution situation of PV system and study of emission prediction
The total introduction volume from the 1990s at an early stage to the present and the introduction volume by application and region were analyzed. The introduction volume by module type (such as single-crystalline silicon, multi-crystalline silicon, and thin-film silicon) was also estimated.
Methods, data, and issues regarding emission prediction by the PV system and other electrical and electronic equipment were reviewed through literature research. Emissions in the entire Japan, by prefecture and module type till 2030 were predicted on the basis of assumed product lifetimes of the PV system.
